Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before and after you take the test.

Before you buy

How long does the test take?

The free test takes about 5-7 minutes. The full test takes about 12-20 minutes. There’s no time limit, and you can pause and come back if needed.

How is this different from a free online personality test?

Most free tests aren’t built on validated science — some are, many aren’t. This one is based on the IPIP-NEO, a research-grounded instrument that measures the same Big Five traits and 30 facets used in academic and clinical research. See the science and sourcing →

Is this scientifically valid?

Yes — it’s built on the Five Factor Model (Big Five), widely regarded as the most scientifically supported framework for personality structure. Read the full breakdown →

Does this give me a "type" or category?

Your core result is never a forced type. Personality is way too complex for that. It’s a result of five dimensions and their 30 sub-facets. We do offer an optional archetype as a supportive, shareable layer on top of that, always shown as a percentage blend rather than a rigid box. Learn more on our Trust page →

How is this different from MBTI?

The scientific foundation and the depth of the results. MBTI gives you one of 16 personality types. There are obviously more different personalities than that. While MBTI is fun and shareable, several studies explain why it has very little scientific merit. Read the full comparison →

Pricing & delivery

What do I get in my report?

We have provided sample reports of all tiers so you can see what you get before you buy. See sample reports →

What’s the difference between the free and paid report?

The free report is based on a shorter questionnaire. The paid reports are based on 120 questions. That makes them more consistent. The free test is also missing the sub-facets and key insights. You can see exactly what each report includes in our Sample reports. See sample reports →

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. We are so confident in the quality of our reports that we offer a 14-day money-back refund.

How do I access my report after purchase?

The report is available on your "My Account" page instantly after you finish the test or upgrade your report.

Privacy & data

Is my data sold to third parties?

No. Your data is yours and yours alone.

Where is my data stored?

Our database is hosted and secured by Supabase and located in Ireland.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes — you can request deletion from your account settings at any time. For accounting and legal reasons, purchase records are retained but anonymized, not tied to your identity. Read our full privacy policy →

Can I export my data?

Yes. Our fully GDPR compliant "Data export" can be found on the "My account" page.

Using your results

Can I share my report with a coach, therapist, or employer?

Yes — your report is yours to share however you’d like.

How often should I retake the test?

Personality is relatively stable, but life circumstances can shift how you respond. When to retake the test should be based on the work you have done to address specific traits, or whether you’ve experienced a major life event. Giving birth, being seriously ill, or experiencing tragedy are examples that might change your result. Research also shows deliberate, structured effort toward a specific trait goal — not just motivation — can produce real, lasting change over several months. What if I disagree with my result?

That’s worth paying attention to. The result is based on your own answers. A pillar of personality testing is that there are no right or wrong results — just insights for reflection and self-knowledge. If something feels off, try reflecting on whether you answered the questions honestly and truthfully, and consider retaking the test. We do not recommend retaking the test just because you wish you had a different result. It’s better to reflect on your results and review your answers to specific facets to clarify why. If you’re working deliberately on a specific trait, retaking the test after a few months to measure real progress is a different — and legitimate — use case. See our article on personality change →

Is this a diagnostic tool or therapy?

No. While some therapists and psychologists use the Big Five, therapy should be left to professionals. It’s a self-understanding tool, useful on its own or alongside coaching or professional support — not a substitute for either.

What’s an archetype, and is it the "real" result?

Your dimensional trait scores are the real result. The archetype is an optional, easier-to-share label built on top of those scores, always presented as a blend rather than a fixed box. See our Trust page →
